Season 13 Episode 01

This week, Steve shows up Mike and Shona who haven’t done their homework. Instead, the gang chat about everything they’re watching this week. Opinions are thrown in for good measure on credible tv pursuits like Mayweather v Mcgregor and a spoiler-free Game of Thrones discussion, to the less credible – hate-watching Fifty Shades of Grey and Celebs Go Dating. Steve, ever the professional, gives us his reviews of new tv remake Get Shorty starring Ireland’s favourite dufus, Chris O’Dowd. In Astronauts: Do You Have What It Takes, we see a bunch of overachievers get their own show. Charlize Theron is more Mission: Impossible than Kill Bill in Atomic Blonde.

Season 12 Episode 23 – Mr Mercedes , Atypical, Wakefield

IIAB Season 12 Episode 23 - Mr Mercedes , Atypical, Wakefield

After an unexpected sabbatical last week, the crew are back together. Mark laments the professionalism and lack of sexism on the show while we review the Bryan Cranston move Wakefield. Family life is front and center on the show as we move from an exploration of Marriage that might have been a better play, to the effects of autism on dating with Netflix’s Atypical. Women’s Rugby gets another look in as Shona laments the Irish games and we round out the show talking about Stephen King tv adaptation Mr. Mercedes.

IIAB Season 12 Episode 22 – Swedish Dicks, Comrade Detective, Icarus

IIAB Season 12 Episode 22 - Swedish Dicks, Comrade Detective, Icarus

This week Steve tries to battle bad broadband and loses, leaving Mark and Shona to steer the ship and try not to break anything.
Mark tells us about Swedish Dicks (it’s not what you think); these dicks are private investigators who aren’t even a mixed gender duo. And Comrade Detective makes us wonder about how you can make a tv show about bad overdubbing. For our film we look at Icarus, the Netflix documentary on doping, with a twist of testosterone injections and a side of international conspiracy. Of course the conversation takes a nose dive into what we all really want to know… how doping causes man boobs.

IIAB Season 12 Episode 21 – Room 104, Somewhere Between, The Founder

Apologies for the sound gremlins this week folks. No apologies from ABC however for Somewhere Between, a murder-thriller cross between Groundhog Day and a hernia. Having blown their budget on Game of Thrones, HBO hits the low rent district in Room 104, an anthology of shorts set in a motel room. Michael Keaton tells us the sometimes brutal history of the Big Mac in The Founder.
