IIAB Season 13 Episode 02 – Hitman’s Bodyguard, Star Trek: Discovery, The Deuce

After a month’s break the gang finally drag themselves to the Is It A Bicycle Complex to record a bumper episode of TV and Film reviews. We talk about dicks, again, this time for American Vandal. Confession Tapes from Netflix has nothing to do with Mike’s weekend. The length of the Deuce has Mark lamenting and fractions, strangely, are hotly debated as we discuss Strike: Cuckoo’s Calling One Third. Hitman’s Bodyguard and The Dark Tower is the closest we get to a Blockbuster, but Netflix puts up cinematic competition with What Happened to Monday? Mark declares it unofficial Star Trek week as we discuss the franchise’s return to tv and the Star Trek inspired comedy The Orville

Season 12 Episode 8 Kong: Skull Island, Taken, Sun Records

Season 12 Episode 8 Kong: Skull Island, Taken, Sun Records

So you think you have a particular set of skills? Like to say boss shit on the phone? Well NBC have taken TAKEN to the small screen. Sun Records tries to squeeze Elvis, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis into one hum dinger of a music show. Sometimes a 50 foot screen is not enough as Kong struggles to fit into our pitiful cinemas and shows who is King on Skull Island.

Season 11 Episode 03 Cell, The Get Down, Marcella

Shona returns, contempt dripping from her lips, after Mike’s literary efforts in last week’s blurb. Steve is lost in a fashion vortex where Marines are a bit too hirsute for his liking. Mark spends undue time trying to figure out the plural for penis and then berates the world for missing Marcella, the best “cop series without a partner of the opposite sex with unusual skills” this year. The Seventies proves once again it just won’t die in Get Down, the story of New York inventing modern popular culture. You weren’t there man….Given the appalling new mainstream offerings this week, we put our faith in Lawrence Letter Jackson and John Cusack to come in from the blind-side with VOD fast zombie reboot, Cell.

Season 10 Episode 1 – Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Hateful Eight, F is for Family, Billions

We have Shaun in the house one last time before his return to his other career as a shady Vegas underworld informer, hanging tough til the last big screenplay gets puked in his lap. Shona bitch slaps Mark into submission and assumes the host type (definitely gender respectful) thing/role in the absence of Steve. We reflect on the Awakening of yet another Christmas movie that comes out at the wrong time to Force its way into the Bikies.Quentin Tarantino may perhaps also need a bitch slap,a new word for n*gg*r, or just a god damn editor, Hateful Eight. Bill Burr gets PTSD and a new haircut in F For Family. Damien Lewis faces off against Paul Giamatti in Billions and discovers that unlimited dollars is no match for the squirt of a good woman.

Season 8 Episode 19 Showrunners, Grace and Frankie, Big Game

Martin Sheen and Jane Fonda (remember them?), yes they are getting old, but they can still spring a surprise, at least on each other, in Grace and Frankie, where The Golden Girls meets Looking. We finally get to watch Showrunners to find out whether or not making Buffy results in making out with Buffy, or if TV is just hard work. We can confirm that Samuel L Jackson did not go all Ancient Greek and sleep with a 13 year old boy in Big Game, the story of a wayward US President and a wannabe hunter-child taking on bad guys in the depths of Finland’s forests.
